Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his first trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since spring of that year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
