In a surprising partnership that challenges usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Revealed

According to the official statement, "A mysterious encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where whispers of banned ceremonies and monstrous transformations resonate through the obscurity." The plot features a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden cult.

The adventure concentrates on "peculiar trials and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses

The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser concludes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Features

Players who finish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana alongside multiple objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Latest Free Story Update

This release also adds the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
